Thomas Schmidt

My personal reaction to the artist work is pleasant. I like the work and I appreciate the skill involved. I find the work aesthetically pleasing and I like the presentation. The work is also finished to high standard and quality has always been something I admire in work.

I think that Gillian might appreciate this work because of the quality of the surface. The artist 'crumbles, layers and distorts' his work which is similar to some Gillian's work. I think she might find the statement useful. http://artaxis.org/statements/schmidt-thomas.pdf

"I am driven by a sense of discovery that develops as I investigate materials."
"imbued with layers of material memory that echo, embellish and obscure the original
event"
"I am interested in mining the zone between two and three-dimensional space."
"the work steps beyond questions of materiality into an
exploration of perception itself."
